OutSite
OutSite is a clear and user-friendly tool for staff working in the field. OutSite enables you to exchange data simply and quickly with the back-office system. The data is collected in the format required by the back-office system so that the information can be integrated quickly.
OutSite in 4 steps:
1. Back-office
Most companies already have a suitable back-office system in place. This is the information system that stores and analyses the data. However, most of the data is usually gathered by hand using printed forms or in Excel, because the back-office system does not offer good facilities for collecting the data. OutSite fulfils this need and expands the back-office system with ‘controlled data collection on location’.
2. OutSite
First of all, data and data definitions in the back-office system are accessed from the PC part of OutSite, OutSite Office. This can be realised via the back-office system database or via an export file containing the data and data definitions from the back-office system. Because the data definitions are also part of OutSite, the application on the PDA can check whether the observations meet the requirements and standards of the back-office database. In OutSite it is easy to assemble data-input forms using the details from the back-office system. The user selects the data required from the database and makes sure that sequence and format are correct on the form. If required additional constraints can be added. As final step, the user sends the form to the PDA.

3 Outsite Field
The PDA part of OutSite,
Outsite Field, works on all PDAs with Microsoft Pocket PC. There are various options for communicating between OutSite Field and OutSite Office. The PDA and the PC can exchange data via USB, bluetooth or GPRS. The means of communication will depend on the working practices within the company.
When the PDA receives the (new) forms from OutSite Office, the OutSite Field user selects the form in which data is to be entered. The system makes it easy for the user to enter data. Barcode readers can be used and it is also possible to make an interface with scales or any other kind of measuring instrument. When data is entered, OutSite Field validates the data in the same way as the back-office system.
4 OutSite
Returning data to the back-office system. Once the user has closed the form, the completed form can be called up in OutSite Office and be forwarded to the back-office system. By using the same standards for the forms in the field as in the office, the real benefit of OutSite is that you can collect data on location. Retyping data and input errors in data collected in the field are a thing of the past!
