At Agri Information Partners, we are constantly innovating our products for plant breeding and plant variety management. However, from a customer perspective, our plant breeding products are ‘just’ one of the many of innovations within a company. Most of those innovations are of course able to increase productivity or decrease costs for plant breeding companies. But also most of those innovations have their own dashboards, with their own login and their own databases.
For a user, it is hard to be able to get the right data together in the right manner, even if you know all your passwords and programs. Things like searching for a password or the right function within a program are all distractions from the main goal of a breeder: making the right crosses.
At Agri Information Partners, we are experiencing more and more the huge potential that all these innovations together could have. We are connecting digital phenotyping innovations to our plant breeding software E-Brida. The photo’s as well as the observation data from those photo’s are very valuable for our customers. However, combining those huge amounts of information at the right time on the right place shows incredible advantages.
In the end, the real advantages come from making the right decisions. In plant breeding, as well as in variety management. Therefore, at Agri Information Partners, we aim to bring all relevant data in the right amount together, to the place where decisions have to be made. E-Brida for example is the place where breeders are making their crossing decisions. Which crossing am I going to make and which not. If you have the data of the automated observations from the phenotyping street available, it can support your decision making.
For Mercado, our variety management tool, we are able to add relevant breeding data or external observation to support our ‘single source of truth’ thinking. If for example relevant information from open data sources is easily accessible via Mercado, market decisions can be made based on more facts and less gut feelings.
The same holds for your climate data, drone data, logistics data, growing data, etcetera. All of those are examples of great innovations and each has an advantage on its own. But what would be nicer than combining those data streams at the right location for breeding of product management. No switching between applications, no double data storage and no information will be forgotten about.
Of course there are some technical challenges regarding to connecting different data sources to your ‘decision room’. But we have quite a lot of experience with the most well-known innovations. And if your newest innovation is not one of the list, we are happy to add it!
Let’s talk about the opportunities and the potential of connecting existing sources of innovations. Furthermore, let’s talk about the future and let’s share our vision on data and observing in relation to breeding and product management.
Let’s join our experiences and focus more on decision making for the future.
So, what are your plants for tomorrow?
