New Release – E-Brida Version 7.5
E-Brida Version 7.5 – Seed by Weight, Plant Inventory and new reporting module
E-Brida version 7.5 is now available. This release introduces new functionality for Seed Breeders with Seed by Weight and supports vegetative Breeders with the new Plant Inventory. We have modernized the reporting module which makes it easier to create different reports and enables more reporting options.
We extensively tested this release in cooperation with some of our customers and their feedback has been highly positive. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed during the testing phase.
In this update, we highlight the key new features that make version 7.5 a valuable step forward.
At the bottom of this article, you’ll find a link to our knowledge base with full release notes and the link to the recordings of two webinars introducing this version.
Key new features in E-Brida version 7.5
- Manage your seed stock in gram, kg, etc
This version introduces new features for managing seed stock using weight as the primary unit. These features will allow users to harvest, sow, and/or manage seed stock in either milligrams, grams or kilograms. Converting seed weights to a number of plants or vice versa is facilitated by introducing the Thousand Seed Weight property. Working with seed weights instead of counts is determined on a crop level and can be enabled by carrying out a conversion.
To further flesh out working with seed weights, changes have been made throughout E-Brida, including but not limited to:
- The introduction of v4 of the API to facilitate working with seed weights without breaking previous API versions.
- The adding of seed weight columns to the data warehouse.
- The adding of seed weight columns to data sources for reporting (see section “New report module” for more details).
- New seed weight-related columns in several grids.
- Adding seeds to a seedling propagation trial or test trial is now a separate action from adding plants.
- A revamp of the Harvest plot action (see section “Harvest” below).
- The introduction of inventory imports (see section “Inventory imports” below).
- Harvest
With the introduction of working with seed weights, the harvest plot action has also received a makeover. Extra options have been added while retaining the existing workflow, such as:
- The introduction of seed bag and pollination numbers.
- The option to create extra seed bags while harvesting seeds.
- Entering additional observations during the harvest.
- Viewing previous stock mutations of harvested lots.
- Viewing/harvesting alternate lots of the pollination without having to rescan a barcode.
- Printing labels while harvesting.
- Plant Inventory & Plot overview
In E-Brida version 7.2 we introduced the seed inventory. To further flesh out the inventory functionality, we added the plant inventory and plot overview in this version. The Plant inventory screen will display all plant, family and selection lots, and provide users with extra information about those plots. Additionally, users can add material to new trials from here.
The plot overview allows the user to view plots of all lot types in one place, without having the option to carry out any actions on the material or view additional information in bottom or side panels.
- Printing Labels with Bartender Cloud
Label printing from E-Brida can now integrate with Bartender Cloud, in addition to the on-premises installation. This requires a separate Bartender License and additional configuration.
- New Report Module
E-Brida 7.5 introduces a new report module, which allows users to create and run reports without ever having to leave E-Brida. This new reporting module is not compatible with reports created in Microsoft report builder, which means new reports will have to be created from scratch. While, for the foreseeable future, we will support both reporting solutions in parallel, the end-goal is to phase out the Microsoft report builder entirely.
Chack our webinars
On Wednesday, November 12 and December 10, 2025, we organized two webinars on the functionality in E-Brida version 7.5. The topics discussed were Seedstock management and Plant Inventory.
